Find the room to be you

Counselling and expressive arts therapy for adults in Lancashire and surrounding areas.

Hello, I’m Davina,

BACP registered counsellor & creative psychotherapist

A picture of therapist, Davina Hanlon, a smiling woman with long brown hair and green eyes taking a selfie outdoors by the Leeds Liverpool canal, with trees and a stone bridge in the background.

If life feels like a real struggle or it’s totally overwhelming, I offer a warm and private space in my cosy therapy room at Cedar Farm in Mawdesley (or online) where you can slow down and speak freely without judgement or masking – you can show up exactly as you are and give yourself the room to be you, to heal and find yourself again.

Working with adults (18+), I offer talking therapy, with the added options of outdoor walk & talk (bring your dog along too) and creative approaches to help you explore whatever is on your mind.

Taking the first step can feel daunting, but you don't have to take it alone.

1. Book a free 20-minute phone chat to say hello and see how it feels to talk with me.

2. Explore what feels right for you – we’ll gently explore what you need.

3. Begin sessions at your own pace – no pressure, just when you feel ready.

Reduced fees from £40.00 | Standard fee £50.00 (for a 60-minute session).

If fee flexibility is something you need, please ask during our initial chat.

I look forward to hearing from you, take care. Davina

Room To Be You

Welcome to my dedicated therapy room

A calm, grounded space designed with soft natural elements to help you feel immediately at ease. Here, there is room to relax and talk, as well as space for gentle creative expression - like writing, poetry, collage, sound, and art. There is no right or wrong way to use the space, and zero artistic skill is required. We move entirely at your pace, guided by what feels most comfortable for you.

    Talking Therapy

Leave the outside world behind. Meet me upstairs in my room at The Barn for person-centred face-to-face counselling. If you prefer you can meet me online or on the phone.

The Barn is fully accessible with gradual gentle ramps to the entrance with a state of the art lift available to assist you to the upper level. There are accessible toilets on the ground floor. Free parking is available on site.

  • Minimalist line drawing of various arts and entertainment symbols including musical notes, a dancer, a painter's palette, a drum, a book with a feather, and a paintbrush, arranged in a circle.

    Expressive Arts Therapy

If you've ever felt that talking therapy doesn't quite reach what's going on inside, creativity through expressive arts, can offer a different way forward. You don’t need to bring anything with you and you don’t have to be creative or good at art. We can adapt this for online work too. You are entirely free to express what’s going on for you in whatever creative way feels right.

  • Line drawing of two people hiking outdoors with mountains, trees, clouds, and the sun in the background, one person speaking with a speech bubble.

Walk & Talk Outdoor Therapy (Dogs Welcome)

With several beautiful, quiet routes in West Lancashire tailored entirely to your comfort level, this is therapy at your own pace. There is no pressure - just fresh air, space to breathe, and gentle movement on your own terms. (And yes, your dog / assistance dog is very welcome to come along too!)

Single Session - Room to Reflect

Room to Reflect is a one-off session designed for those who want a professional sounding board to check in on their mental health and wellbeing. The same therapeutic principles apply in that I don’t judge you or give advice - you are the expert on you.

No pressure, no ongoing commitment - just a space to clear the noise and focus on what you need to move forward.
